Construction on a shared services complex for town of Owego parks, highway and utility departments is moving forward.

Site work for the $10.6 million project on Route 434 next to the town hall began last spring. Town officials had discussed the need for the facility for several years.

Town supervisor Donald Castellucci said construction is about 35 percent complete.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Castellucci said some concrete and masonry work has been accomplished because of favorable weather conditions.

Castellucci said the project's construction cost is $9.4 million and the engineering work associated with it comes to $1.2 million. The town has received some state funding for the facility.

Castellucci said the construction is expected to be completed in August. He said the final items related to the project should be finished by late October when the facility should be fully operational.
