American Eagle Airlines is recruiting people to work at the Greater Binghamton Airport. But that doesn't mean any American Eagle flights are scheduled into or out of Broome County.

American Eagle is hiring station agents to provide customer service and do other work at the airport in the town of Maine.

County aviation commissioner Carl Beardsley told WNBF News American Eagle started providing ground handling services for United Express at the airport about six months ago.

Although the employees providing the service may have United Express logos as part of their attire, travelers at BGM Airport may notice some equipment bearing the American Eagle name.

Beardsley said the American Eagle ground handling arrangement covers all facets of services for the local United Express operation.

American Eagle in April announced it would start performing ground handling work for United Express at the Greater Binghamton Airport and eight other sites.

The United Express flights at BGM Airport provide connections to Washington Dulles International Airport.

Beardsley said about a dozen people now are working for American Eagle at the local airport.
