Construction crews are putting the finishing touches on a structure housing a Vestal beauty salon that was damaged when a minivan slammed through a wall.

A man driving a minivan belonging to Miller Auto Team lost control of the vehicle on Vestal Road on January 31. It struck a postal service vehicle before smashing through the side of White Rose Day Spa.

Five employees and two clients who were in the building at the time of the crash escaped serious injury. The driver of the minivan was taken to a hospital for treatment of a medical condition.

Receptionist Liza Goodman told WNBF News that she at first thought the ceiling had collapsed. She and a couple of co-workers crawled through debris to get out of the wrecked building.

Karen Latta, White Rose Day Spa owner, on Monday said the rebuilding work is nearing completion. The exterior wall that wound up with a large opening caused by the speeding vehicle has been repaired.

Latta said the aftermath of the crash "has been a nightmare for our employees." They encountered trying to file insurance claims.

Latta said: "All we want to do is get back to work, yet we suffering from an accident that was not our fault."

Although the rebuilding process has been challenging Latta expressed gratitude for the support the business has received since the crash.

Some of the stylists have been able to return in recent days. The entire building - including the remodeled west end of the structure - should be operational by next Monday.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
