Johnson City police say two people were arrested in connection with the reported theft of merchandise from an Oakdale Mall store.

Investigators say 30-year-old Todd Corey of Johnson City faces felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon and evidence tampering.

Corey also was charged with possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and marijuana possession.

Police say 19-year-old Shannon Thornberg of Endicott was charged with petit larceny in the incident.

Authorities say Corey and Thornberg are accused of stealing from the JCPenney store. They say Corey fled the mall but was found later by police.

Corey was accused of hiding the stolen property as well as possessing metal knuckles, heroin, hydrocodone and marijuana.

Corey was arraigned in Johnson City village court and sent to Broome County Jail. Thornberg was released on an appearance ticket.
