Funeral arrangements are set for New York State Trooper Christopher Skinner of Binghamton, who was hit and killed by a Florida man on Interstate 81 near exit 6 May 29.

Calling hours for the 13 year veteran of the State Police will be June 2 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Community Baptist Church at 743 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. June 3 at the First Baptist Church at 1321 Reynolds Road, Johnson City.

A very large turnout of law enforcement, family and friends is expected at both the calling hours and funeral service.

Prosecutors say 60 year old Almond Upton of Melrose, Florida told them he deliberately swerved from the passing lane and across the driving lane to hit Skinner, who was interviewing a driver who had been pulled over for speeding.

Outside the Town of Chenango Court, Upton told reporters he didn’t know what happened and said “It was like a time-warp or something.” before being put into the back of a police car.

Skinner leaves behind his fiancé, two children, parents and many other relatives and friends.

Trooper Skinner and his fiancé, Surrena Gould, were to have been married in July.
