The National Weather Service confirms that a tornado touched down in Southern Chenango County on April 19th.

The twister was spawned when a strong cold front swept through the Southern Tier and Central New York shortly before 9 p.m. The EF1 tornado stayed on the ground in Bainbridge for about five minutes, traveled over three miles and had a maximum wind speed of 110 mph.

There were no reports of injuries but trees were snapped and uprooted, some of them falling on vehicles.  Some buildings were also damaged.
