Tioga Teen is Accused of Stealing Packages

Law enforcement officials are warning residents to be careful during the holiday season to protect items being delivered to homes from being stolen.

In Tioga County, for example, 18 year old Jesse Blake of Owego is being charged with six counts of petit larceny for allegedly stealing mail and packages from people’s mail boxes in the area of Route 34 and Fraley Road in the Town of Barton.

Residents often can make arrangements with shippers to have packages placed in less conspicuous areas of a property, delivered to a trusted neighbor who will be home when delivery is expected or have items delivered to the customer’s workplace.
