Tioga County Sheriff’s officials are warning residents they should not respond to or click on any links that they may get in an email claiming to be from the FBI.

Officials say the email says the intended victim has been found to have legally won $10,000 from the U.K. Mega Millions Lottery and asks for personal information and states the “winner” has to pay required fees to access the account containing the funds.

The FBI does not send emails to citizens asking for personal information.

A print out of the scam email can be found at the Tioga County Sheriff’s website www.tiogacountysheriff.com. Click on public information and news releases.
