Tioga Downs is planning a partnership with the Tioga Country Club in Nichols in its bid to win a license to operate a full-service casino that includes table games.

Tioga Downs President Tom Osiecki says the racino plans to spend three million dollars to build a new club house at the 18 hole golf course and has signed a 99-year lease option with the facility.

Tioga Downs has already started work on a new parking garage at its facility in Nichols and has plans for construction of a hotel to turn the harness track and video slots parlor into what owners describe as a destination resort should it land the license.

Tioga Downs is one of three Binghamton-area interests looking to land a new casino license from the state.  Traditions at the Glen in the Town of Union and the Binghamton brothers who own Vista Hospitality Group are also in the running for the license.
