Tioga Dance Teacher Accused Of Sexual Assault

A Waverly dance studio operator has been indicted on sexual assault charges.

Authorities say 38-year-old Julie Kay Werkheiser was arrested Saturday morning.

According to the Waverly Police Department, Tioga County Court issued an arrest warrant after Werkheiser was indicted on two felony counts of predatory sexual assault against a child. She also faces two felony counts of course of sexual conduct against a child.

Police say the incidents are alleged to have happened between 2004 and 2007.

Werkheiser was sent to Tioga County Jail without bail.

Waverly police and New York State Police investigated the allegations.
