The Race for Broome County Sheriff Heats Up

Long-time Broome County Sheriff David Harder has a challenger for what he has said would be his last term, if he wins re-election.

42 year old Binghamton Police Captain Chris Bracco of Endicott is expected to formally announce he is running for sheriff later this week.

Republican Harder is 72 and is seeking a fifth term.  He’s been sheriff since 1998.

Bracco is a registered Republican but is looking to run as a Democrat.

He submitted a change of enrollment in March, but the switch would not be effective until after the election in November.
