The Twin Tiers are bracing for winter weather with the New York State Department of Transportation advising motorists by electronic message boards on the highway to avoid traveling.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Broome, Tioga, Chenango, Otsego and Bradford Counties until 6 Thanksgiving morning with 4 to 8 inches of snow possible and a Winter Storm Warning for Delaware and Sullivan Counties until 6 Thanksgiving morning with up to 12 inches of snow possible.

The New York State Department of Transportation and PennDOT are advising residents to be prepared to adjust their holiday travel plans in light of the winter storm hitting the area.

As of 4:30 p.m. November 25, the New York DOT was out spraying deicing solution on the bridges on Route 17.
