September 5 is the deadline to mail in an absentee ballot application for a Primary Election to be sent through the mail. The last day to vote via absentee ballot in person is September 11. Ballots being returned by mail also have to be post marked by Monday, September 11. Absentee ballots for the Primary or General Election can be downloaded from BroomeVots.com or completed in person at the Broome County Board of Elections on the 2nd floor of the Broome County Office Building on Hawley Street, Binghamton from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Primary contests are being held for Justice in the Town of Fenton, where there are two Republican candidates (Ambrose Madden and Michal Husar) and Mayor of Johnson City, where there are three Republicans (Incumbent Greg Deemie, Richard Balles and Martin Meaney facing one Democrat (Andrew Hulbert). There are no Democrat, Conservative, Green Party, Working Families, Women’s Equality or Reform Party Primaries with Conservative and Independence Party candidates being chosen in the Johnson City mayoral race via write-in. The Primary Election is September 12 from noon to 9 p.m.
