A Broome County woman convicted of second-degree murder in the death of her two-year-old son today was sentenced to twenty-five years to life in prison.

Prosecutors say 25-year-old Veronica Taft of Lisle was sentenced in Broome County Court. Taft had been accused in the beating death of Lyric Taft, whose body was found in a downtown Binghamton apartment in December 2010.

A jury last August 28 convicted Taft of murder, manslaughter and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

During today's sentencing hearing, Taft continued to maintain her innocence.
