Federal Charges are now added to New York State charges against a couple accused of abducting two Amish girls from their family farm stand in northern New York.

An indictment released by the U.S.Department of Justice Northern New York Division charges against 25 year old Nicole Viasey and 39 year old Stephen Howells with sexual exploitation of children and possession of child pornography.

They are accused of enticing and coercing children to engage in sexual conduct while recording the action.

The pair has already pleaded not guilty to a state kidnapping charge and are being held without bail.

The 7 and 12 year old girls disappeared from the roadside stand in Oswegatchie, prompting a state-wide Amber Alert activation that stretched from the Canadian border, south to Broome County and all of western New York.

Authorities allege the children were shackled and sexually abused before being released the following day miles from home where they walked to a house and asked the residents to take them home.

Federal prosecutors have said there is an investigation being conducted that alleges another girl, eight years old, was sexually abused previously over the course of two years. U.S. Attorney Richard Hartunian said authorities would not be discussing whether there were any links between the two cases.

Vaisey and Howells are due for a detention hearing in the next few days.
