An alleged Binghamton gang member will be spending two decades in federal prison for drug trafficking following sentencing in federal court.

Prosecutors accused 37 year old Brian Hime of Binghamton of being a member of the Medievals gang and dealing cocaine and heroin in the region.

Investigators say Hime took a number of trips to Arizona to buy drugs for resale in the Southern Tier.

A 2012 raid of Hime’s Liberty street home turned up drugs, $3,4000, handgun ammunition, a rifle and drug paraphernalia.

Hime pleaded guilty in June to drug charges, admitting to conspiring to sell the drugs in the region between 2006 and 2012.

Hime’s lawyer asked for a lenient sentence for his client saying Hime grew up in Binghamton in an environment of drugs and violence.

Hime was given the mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years.
