A Binghamton man admits he broke into two Binghamton homes, assaulting the resident of one.

33 year old David Berry pleaded guilty in Broome County Court October 14 to two burglary charges for the break-ins a year ago on Meadow Street and Murray Street.

Police say a person was assaulted in the Meadow Street incident while Berry was accused of forcing his way into an apartment on Murray Street, along with another person.  Prosecutors say, in that incident, the two intruders were armed with handguns and intended to steal items from the apartment.

Officials say Berry will be sentenced as a second felony offender due to two previous drug convictions in 2005.

Berry’s guilty plea came just before testimony was to begin in his trial.
