Officials are looking into the cause of a natural gas explosion at a construction site at SUNY Cortland that has sent three workers to the hospital.

Officials say the injuries suffered in the blast at around 7 a.m. November 25 at the work site for the new Student Life Centercaused non-life threatening injuries.  The contractors were taken to Upstate University Medical Center in Syracuse and construction at the site was halted.

Emergency Alert messaged said the blast happened in an area housing an emergency power generator.

In addition to looking into the cause of the explosion, officials will be evaluating the extent of the damage to the facility that was slated to be open for the spring semester.
