A day of nail-biters in the America East men's basketball semi-final round.  In the first game of the afternoon March 8 the Stony Brook Seawolves held on to defeat the Vermont Catamounts at Patrick Gymnasium in Burlington, Vermont by a final score of 79-77. The Seawolves overcame a 16-point second half deficit to earn the victory. Vermont started out on fire with early leads of 7-0 and 16-4 but Stony Brook roared back in the second half.

America East Player of the Year Jameel Warney led the way for the Seawolves with 24 points, 14 points and five blocks.  Hector Harold paced the Catamounts with 17 points.  The win was just the second for Stony Brook in 15 visits to Burlington.

Ethan O'Day, who scored 14 points for Vermont, missed a last- second shot that fell short and could have sent the game into overtime.  Stony Brook had the advantage in rebounds with a 42-29 margin.  The Seawolves head to the America East Championship game this Saturday at 11:00 AM in Albany against the Great Danes who edged New Hampshire in the day's other semi-final.

At Albany the Great Danes held on to edge the New Hampshire Wildcats 60-58. The Wildcats finish  with 19 wins which ties the school record for most victories in a single season.  The Great Danes advanced to the championship game for the third straight year.

Albany's Peter Hooley led all scorers with 21 points.  Evan Singletary scored 18 for the Great Danes.  Jalen Smith was the top gun for New Hampshire with 16 points.
