Spencer Fire Destroys Auto Body Shop

No injuries are reported after a crash in Tioga County yesterday morning resulted in a fire that destroyed an auto body shop.

Spencer fire crews were called to Walter’s Auto body on Ithaca Road at around 7:30 a.m. November 4 after a car hit a pole, the pole and wires fell on the business and the building caught fire.

The heat from the body shop fire melted the siding on the owner’s house next door.

Firefighters from three counties were on the scene for several hours and a portion of Ithaca Road was shut down while crews worked.

The Southern Tier Chapter of the American Red Cross was assisting the home and business owner with food and other items.
