Bob Joseph/WNBF News

A new report on violent crime shows incidents in the Southern Tier increased in 2012.

The FBI Crime in the United States report says the Binghamton Metropolitan area, including both Broome and Tioga counties shows the number of overall cases went up by 84 to 632 in 2012 from 2011.

There were four more murders investigated in 2012 from the total of three murders investigated in 2011.  The City of Binghamton saw 52 more property crime reports in the year but a drop of 64 cases for larceny investigations.
