The National Weather Service in Binghamton says snow will continue to taper off through the morning with a possible one or two inches of additional accumulation throughout the day.  According to the Binghamton bureau’s website, as of 11 last night, local snow accumulations were being measured between three and five inches in Broome County.

Meanwhile, public works crews in Broome, Tioga and Chenango counties have been out since early this morning working on plowing the roads.

Emergency Services officials say, however, motorists should expect snow-covered roads and slippery conditions all day.

Many schools in Broome and Tioga counties already had a scheduled day off, but numerous districts outside of the Broome Tioga BOCES region and in Pennsylvania were calling in delays and cancellations.
