Severe thunderstorms and locally heavy rain began to move through our area late this afternoon.  The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning in effect until 10:15 tonight for Northeastern Tioga , Southeastern Cortland, West Central Chenango and Northwestern Broome Counties.

WNBF News received reports of flooding issues on portions of Old Vestal Road near Mirabito's complex, the area near Olums  just off the Vestal Parkway, underpasses in Endicott on South Nanticoke Avenue near the Cidermill and also near CVS and the former IBM complex.

Numerous reports of trees down, wires across roads and power outages have also been received in the WNBF News Center.  As of 6:31 PM NYSEG is reporting that 3,337  customers are without power in Broome County, 1,622 without power in Chenango County and 1,462 without power in Tioga County.

The National Weather Service and area police agencies remind you ....do not drive into areas where water covers the roadway.  Also avoid the usual flood-prone areas like underpasses and low-lying roadways.  News Radio 1290 WNBF will have any warnings or weather alerts throughout the evening from the National Weather Service.
