A pre-trial hearing is being held for New York State Senator Thomas Libous of Binghamton.

The Republican has been accused of influence peddling, allegedly offering state business for a downstate law firm in exchange for his son getting a job at the practice.

Libous has denied the allegations of lying to federal officials since his indictment in June.

The 61 year old politician’s son has also been indicted on tax-related charges.

Libous was scheduled to appear in Federal Court in White Plains for the pre-trial action.
