Security Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York with headquarters at 100 Court Street in Binghamton is celebrating its 127th anniversary this year.  This week the City of Binghamton is honoring the Company by declaring it "Security Mutual Week".

Security Mutual was established on January 3, 1886.  In its first year the Company's total assets were $15,000.  That's a far cry from where they are today.  The latest figures show steady and impressive growth by Security Mutual.  The Company now has $31 billion in life insurance and $2.6 billlion in assets.  The Company's products are available in all 50 states, Washington, D C and the U S Virgin Islands.

Security Mutual Life employs over 300 people locally.  Today through the end of the week management is holding a training seminar for approximately 200 insurance sales associates from all over the United States.  CEO Bruce Boyea speaking this morning on News Radio 1290 WNBF says the Company continues to increase growth.

Security Mutual Life is active in the community putting out flowers around the City and hosting the Annual Jim "Mudcat" Grant All-Star Golf Tournament which divides money raised into contributions to : CHOW, Catholic Charities, The Binghamton Boys and Girls Club and the Broome County Urban League.
