If you are finding the old adage "you can't get there from here" to be all too true these days you are not alone.  Road construction, maintenance and repair is now in full season.

Drivers can expect detours and delays around the Binghamton region over the summer.

The major project involves Prospect Mountain on Routes 17 and 81 in Binghamton.  There are lane restrictions both eastbound and westbound on Route 17.  For the past several weeks between 9 AM and 3 PM  travel has been reduced from two lanes to one lane between exit 71 (Airport Road) and exit 72 (Front Street) on 17 east.  Numerous other "spin-off" projects are slowing traffic on streets and roads near the major highways in that area as well.

Another sizable stretch of roadway undergoing major work is Route 17 in both directions from near the Route 26 bridge in the Vestal/Endicott area to Apalachin. Lane restrictions are in effect for reconstruction and paving work.

In Vestal NYSEG officials are installing a natural gas main which has resulted in the closure of Bunn Hill Road between the Vestal Parkway and Vestal Road today.  Also, Vestal Road between Bunn Hill Road and Old Lane Road will be closed to eastbound traffic through July third.
