Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]Binghamton police say the amount of reward money being offered for leads in a downtown assault investigation has doubled.

City detectives say another member of the family of the attack victim has contributed to the reward, bringing the total amount to $2,000. Last week, the family posted $500 and that amount was matched by the police.

The incident happened on January 31 near the intersection of Hawley and Exchange streets. Three Binghamton University students were confronted by two women and a man in a blue Jeep SUV just past 3 a.m. One of the students was assaulted and sustained head and knee injuries.

The people in the vehicle drove off following the assault.

Investigators have not said whether they have any suspects in connection with the attack.
