Binghamton police were investigating a possible burglary at a downtown craft brewery that remains filled with equipment three years after it went out of business.

Glass in two front door windows had been shattered at the defunct Galaxy Brewing Company building at 41 Court Street.

Police officers were sent to the site just west of Washington Street Tuesday afternoon.

One officer was posted at a side entrance to the closed business near the MetroCenter as another officer with a flashlight was seen walking around inside.

It was not immediately clear if someone had gained entry to the Galaxy Brewing site.

While police were on the scene, an audible alarm could be heard. It was the same sound that's been emanating from the building for more than two years.

WNBF News had reported on the incessant beeping of the alarm in September 2022 but no one took action to shut off the system.

The Galaxy Brewing Company building and its beer-making equipment were listed for sale early this year. The asking price for the property and the production gear was $2 million.

IT WON'T STOP! WNBF News returned to the scene of the crime on November 8, 2023 to find out what had changed.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
