The Binghamton Rumble Ponies were coming off one of their best home series of the year with a four game winning streak in their six games against the Hartford Yard Goats.

Binghamton pitcher Jose Butto, who joined the team last month was named MiLB Pitcher of the Week in the Northeast League, with a 3-0 record and 1.86 ERA in his five starts with the Ponies this season.

Binghamton was trounced yesterday in the opening road series in Portland 11-0, as the Sea Dogs pitcher Chris Murphy allowed only one hit in seven innings.

Binghamton (40-49) is in fourth place in the Northeast division just three games behind third place New Hampshire.

The Rumble Ponies took the series against Portland back at Mirabito Stadium at the beginning of the month taking five out of seven at home.

There are 29 games remaining in the season as the Rumble Ponies try and make a run for the playoffs.

Game two of the six game road series is tonight at Haddock Field with Dustin Beggs on the mound for the Rumble Ponies, first pitch at 6pm.
