Police Arrest Pair in Town of Vestal

Following a six-month investigation into the illegal possession of firearms and the illegal manufacturing and possession of explosive/incendiary devices in the Town of Vestal Police have announced the arrest of two individuals.  Arrested on June 27 were William R. Barker age 20 of 5 Rock Road who was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (D felony), and Christopher P. Barker age 30 of 171 Rock Road who was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (D felony) and criminal possession of a firearm (E felony).

Both were arraigned in Vestal Town Court and remanded to the Broome County Jail to await further court action.  The search warrants were issued at Vestal locations of 5 Rock Road, 171 Rock Road and 1721 Vestal Road.

The investigation was conducted by the Vestal Police Department with the assistance of the New York State Police Special Investigations Unit.  Additional law enforcement agencies were involved in conducting the search warrants including the FBI and ATF.
