Code Enforcement Officers in Broome County are preparing for new rules concerning parking structures in Broome County that are due to take effect later this year and brushing up on some existing inspection guidelines.

New guidelines come following the collapse last year of a parking ramp at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City and the closing of the Collier Street ramp in Binghamton over safety concerns.

The Code inspectors attended a training session at Binghamton City Hall January 21.

Much of the material in the training session was said to be a brush up on structural inspection issues that also apply to more than just parking structures.
