A 19-year-old man faces several charges following a disturbance at a residence in the village of Owego.

Authorities say Tyler Pawlowski was arrested Monday afternoon after state police were called to investigate a dispute on East Main Street.

Pawlowski was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation. He also was charged with menacing, harassment and criminal possession of a weapon.

Investigators say during the incident, Pawlowski allegedly choked a person and would not allow her to call for assistance.

The man also was said to have grabbed a spiked wooden bat and threatened to hit the person with it.

Police say when Pawlowski was taken into custody, he was found to be in possession of an illegal butterfly knife.

Pawlowski was arraigned in Owego village court and sent to Tioga County Jail on $500 bail.
