With restoration work complete in NYSEG's downstate service areas, the utility has deployed 70 line crews to Long Island to help the Long Island Power Authority and Con Edison get the power back on.  Some of those line crews are from the Binghamton area.

Fifteen gas fitters were also sent to the Rockaways to restore natural gas service in that area.

Power crews on Long Island have been facing an uphill battle in restoring power due to the heavy damage caused by Hurricane Sandy.  A powerful Nor'easter also battered the region just days after Sandy causing more outages.  Some residents have gone nearly three weeks without electricity.

NYSEG is also providing poles, transformers, natural gas regulators, and dry ice to Con Edison to support power and natural gas service restoration in New York City.
