An Attica man will stand trial in Broome County in connection with a break-in in Vestal in which a woman and two children were reportedly held against their will in Februrary.

62 year old convicted sex offender John Malowsky has rejected a plea deal that would have sent him to New York State Prison for 25 years to life.

Malowsky is accused of forcing his way into a home on Jensen Road February 27 when the woman inside answered the door.

The woman, who was caring for two children, was allegedly threatened with a knife and held for about 40 minutes before she and the children escaped and called authorities from a neighbor's home.

Malowsky is also accused of robbing the CVS Pharmacy in Owego as well as drug stores in Corning and Big Flats.  The cases in Chemung and Steuben Counties are pending.

Malowsky had been offered a plea deal in Broome County for predatory sexual assault and burglary.

A trial date has not yet been set.
