The official New York State government website has been redesigned.

The revised site - NY.gov - was launched today. It's said to be the first major redesign of the website in 15 years.

In a statement posted on the site, Governor Andrew Cuomo said the changes are part of an effort to make state services "more accessible and more efficient."

Cuomo described the new site as "much more user-friendly."

The website prioritizes information most sought by state residents. State government websites receive an estimated 735 million visits annually.

Redesign elements are to be extended to individual state agencies starting next year.

Rachel Haot, the state's Chief Digital Officer, said the enhanced website "puts information and resources at the fingertips of New Yorkers as never before."

State employees worked with the creative agency Code and Theory on the redesigned NY.gov. Read about how Code and Theory worked on developing the new website here.
