New Anti-Fracking Group Launches in Binghamton

A new network has been organized to push for the rejection of hydraulic fracture drilling for natural gas in the region.Save the Southern Tier anti-fracking network has sent a letter to New York Governor Andew Cuomo claiming the Democrat has been misinformed about fracking and the level of support the technology has in the Southern Tier.

At a news conference at Binghamton City Hall, one of the organizers, Isaac Silberman-Gorn of Citizen Action of New York, vowed acts of civil disobedience if approval of fracking moves forward.

Other members appearing at the news conference were Binghamton Mayor Matthew Ryan, Eileen Hamlin, who chairs the Working Families Party and residents from Chenango, Tioga and Steuben Counties.
