Heavy equipment is being used for site preparation for a PVC pipe manufacturing plant in the town of Union.

National Pipe and Plastics plans to relocate its factory from Vestal to West Endicott.

The site is south of Maple Street and west of Mills Avenue.

Town of Union officials recently gave final approval for the project, which has been opposed by some people who live nearby.

Some of those who've been fighting the factory have said they still are considering legal action.

There's no word as to when National Pipe and Plastics expects to start operations in West Endicott.

It's not known what might happen to the company's current production facility on Vestal Road.
