More Noise Barriers Installed In Binghamton
Workers are erecting additional noise barrier walls in Binghamton as part of the Prospect Mountain Project.
Traffic on the eastern end of Prospect Street is limited to one lane while crews are putting wall components in place.
An alternating lane closure was set up with all vehicles using the westbound lane.
Concrete supports for the barrier weigh about four tons each. On Wednesday morning, they were being lifted from a Binghamton Precast and Supply Corporation tractor-trailer.
Each support was lifted by a crane and guided into position by workers on the side of Route 17.
The state Department of Transportation has additional information about the highway improvement project online.
