A search of an apartment on Francis Street in the Town of Dickinson has turned up dozens of bags of heroin.

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force says 24 year old Freddie Dawson is charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and more charges are possible.

In addition to 74 bags of heroin and $620, police say they found a loaded Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum handgun in Dawson’s apartment.

Investigators say the result of DNA testing on the handgun may be pivotal as to whether more charges will be filed against Dawson.

He was sent to the Broome County Jail without bail.
