A Southern Tier teen is back home after being separated from his father while small game hunting in the Whaupaunaucau State Forest in North Norwich.

The 13 year old boy and his father are both from Hancock.

Authorities say the pair was familiar with the area of Whaupaunaucau and Ripple Roads.  But the boy became separated from his father.

Following an extensive search involving the Chenango County Sheriff's Office, Chenango County Fire Coordinator's office, Chenango, Madison and Onondaga County search teams, Norwich Fire Department, Norwich Police Department, New York State Forest Rangers, New York State Environmental Conservation Police, New York State Police and LifeNet of New York helicopter crews, the teen was located about a mile from where he had become separated from his father by a Sheriff's Office Snowmobile Unit off Post Road.

The boy was treated at the scene and released to his father.
