Binghamton Mayor Matthew Ryan says he deserves to be paid back for using his personal vehicle for work or that he should be given a new car that would also be used by the next mayor.

Ryan asked City Council yesterday for a five thousand dollar stipend.

When the mayor took office, he opted not to take a city vehicle but instead to use his own car.  He says that he rarely drives but does require a vehicle for occasional trips to Albany and other areas outside the city.

Council members are expected to discuss the issue at the December 17th work session.
