Man Jumps in Front of Cars in Owego

New York State Police are investigating an incident in which a man reportedly jumped in front of a vehicle on Route 17 in Owego August 5. 

Authorities say the man was seriously hurt when he was hit by a vehicle at around 11 p.m.  It’s believed the man was coming from a music festival when he was reported walking in traffic on the highway. 

The man’s name has not been released and no tickets have been issued against the driver of the vehicle that hit him.

Troopers say they had gotten several emergency calls from motorists reporting the man on the highway, causing them to swerve to avoid hitting him,

At last report, the man was listed as stable at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
