Authorities say a 21-year-old Delhi man apparently drowned after the kayak he was in capsized in the West Branch Delaware River.

According to the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, Donald Shamus was found south of the confluence of the West Branch Delaware River and the LIttle Delaware River Tuesday afternoon.

Shamus was pronounced dead at O'Connor Hospital in Delhi.

A person who had been kayaking with Shamus said the man fell from the top of a capsized kayak and was swept away by the current.

Investigators say Shamus had not been wearing a personal floatation device.
