Man Critically Hurt in Binghamton West Side Attack

Binghamton police say a 45-year-old man was seriously hurt when he was assaulted on the city's West Side.

Investigators say Alton Rankins was found in front of a building at 156 Murray Street around 9 p.m. August 24. He was described as unresponsive.

Rankins was taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City. Police say he was listed in critical condition.

Detectives say Rankins had been attacked by a group of men. They did not describe his injuries or indicate whether any weapons may have been used.
