Make a Wish Foundation is making a rare appearance on the local weekly public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up.

Speaking on the June 3rd edition, Make a Wish of Central New York President and CEO Diane Kuppermann talks about how the group grants wishes of children aged 2-18 who have life-threatening illnesses.

Kuppermann says each chapter is their own not-for-profit, raising their own funds that stay in the area and granting local wishes while still getting support and assistance from the national organization.

The top wish of kids is still a Disney experience but Kuppermann says Hawaii is moving up on the list.

Children are recommended by parents and doctors.

More information about the organization, donating and volunteering can be found at the Make a Wish site.

Southern Tier Close Up is heard Saturdays at 12:10 p.m. on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
