Although the final score doesn't show it the Maine-Endwell Spartans had their hands full with a tough Owego Indians squad on Friday night at Spartan Stadium.  It was only a 14-7 lead for the Spartans a couple minutes into the fourth quarter.  M-E held a 14-0 at the half. Owego scored on a four-yard run by Micah Marshall with 9:54 left in the fourth quarter cutting the Spartan lead to seven points.

Good teams are able to counter a change in momentum and that is exactly what the Spartans did.  Just over two minutes after the Indians' TD, Maine Endwell's fullback Cordell Woolfolk bulled his way into the endzone from two-yards out to make it 20-7.  Micah Miller's two-point conversion upped the score to 22-7.  Sam Nesmith made it a three touchdown advantage with a 16-yard run with 1:40 left in the game to seal it for M-E.

With the victory Maine-Endwell moves to a 3-0 record while Owego falls to 1-2.  Owego showed flashes of excellence on offense.  They put together several lengthy drives primarily using their bruising ground attack.  A big front five on the offensive line continually moved the M-E defense off the ball during those drives.
