A Binghamton teen is in jail in connection with an investigation into recent gang violence and gang-related shootings on Crandall and Thorpe Streets in the city.

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force and the Binghamton/ Johnson City/ Vestal Joint Swat Team raided a first floor apartment on Berlin Street, Binghamton May 28 and arrested self-admitted Latin King gang member, 18 year old Gabriel Gonzalez as he attempted to flee out a back door.  The teen ran straight into the arms of additional officers positioned outside.

Police say Gonzalez was found in possession of a loaded .32 caliber revolver and a sawed-off 20-gage shotgun.

He's charged with felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon and possession of stolen property as well as misdemeanor weapon possession.
