Officials in a small, rural Bradford County, Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania community are still looking into what to the borough should do with one of its two police officers who was seen selling an assault rifle from the trunk of his squad car while on duty last week.

Laceyville Mayor Phillip Brewer suspended officer Matt Chamberlain after a reporter standing outside a Wyalusing newspaper snapped photos of the cop making a deal for the sale of his semi-automatic rifle June 19.

The Borough Council met Friday but took no action, saying more information needed to be gathered concerning gun laws.

A decision on any possible further disciplinary action is expected at the next meeting July 1.

Mayor Brewer says Chamberlain remains on suspension for allegedly conducting private business on the taxpayer’s dime.
