A Kirkwood man is accused of asking a friend to deposit a cashier’s check, that was fake, into that person’s bank account, leaving the friend over-drawn.

Broome County Sheriff’s officials say when Tyrone Smith was confronted about the overdrawn account, he wrote a personal check against an account that was closed.

Smith is charged with petit larceny, issuing a bad check and forgery.

He’s been ordered to appear in Town of Dickinson Court at a later date.
