Authorities say 42-year-old Ramon Vargas and a village police officer were injured following an incident on Main Street.

According to Johnson City police, Vargas gave an officer a false name while being interviewed in connection with the dispute.

After officers determined the man's identity, they learned there were warrants for his arrest.

Vargas then is said to have resisted arrest. Vargas and an officer were treated at Wilson Medical Center's emergency department.

Police say Vargas was charged with felony assault and felony possession of a forged instrument. He also was charged with resisting arrest and criminal impersonation.

Vargas was arraigned in Johnson City village court and remanded to Broome County Jail.
